My Time

Feel like a cuppa and a little time-out? Come along to MyTime Marrickville, held at Pathways ECI on Wednesday mornings during school term.

MyTime Marrickville commenced at Pathways ECI in June 2007. It is a group for parents and carers of children with additional needs and allows a space for them to come together to share their experiences, get information and meet other people who are experiencing similar situations.

The MyTime Marrickville group has a very relaxed and open structure where parents have the opportunity to discuss, over a cup of tea, a broad range of topics from how their week has been, to how to access respite care and sneak extra veggies into meals for their kids. Play helpers Nicole Floros and Ildiko Szabo look after the children while Kate McNamara facilitates the group for the parents.

Some parents attend every week, others when they can. One parent has attended regularly for two years. Many come for a year or six months and form friendships which then spin off into separate social networks beyond the MyTime group. Some people come back for special events or when we have guest speakers.

MyTime Marrickville is one of 16 MyTime groups run by Tresillian Family Care Centres and is part of the National MyTime Program funded by the Commonwealth Government.

There is no need to book to come along to the MyTime group, all parents and children are welcome. There’s also no obligation for parents to come for any period of time.
