One to one services are available at Pathways ECI and are provided by a range of staff members which include:
- Early Childhood Special Educators,
- Speech Pathologist and
- Occupational Therapists.
A limited number of places are available for free and some places are chargeable under the Helping Children with Autism program.
This service can be provided in a range of settings which may include:
- in your home;
- at our centre;
- in a community setting such as your child's preschool or child care centre,
- school.
Some families need assistance with getting out and about with their child and so our service may help you to attend places like the park or shopping centre.
By starting with an Individual Family Service Plan, we work in partnership with you to meet the goals that are important to your family. Our staff believe that your family is the centre the service and the strengths and needs of all family members is considered when working in partnership with you.
Together, we will develop a plan that will guide your individual service. This way, we are all working together towards the same goals.
Our staff help you to see new ways of playing and teaching your child so that this becomes a part of your everyday routine.
We also provide support and information on: child development, education, resources, and services on a range of issues such as sleeping, feeding, toilet training and behaviour. Our staff are also able to support you with information on broader issues such as preschool or school options, advocacy, inclusion, respite services and training for parents.
A staff member will consult with you and your child once per week or fortnight for one hour. Some discussion may take place around your child’s accomplishments, effective strategies and planning for future visits.
All staff use a play-based model of early intervention; play is used by adults to help children reach the set goals.
Your participation in this service is important and a parent must be present, unless it is conducted in an early childhood or school setting.
