Stepping Stones Positive Parenting Program
(Triple P)
One to One
|
Stepping Stones Triple P is an early intervention strategy for families of pre-school-aged children with disabilities who are at risk of developing behavioural and emotional disorders. It is based on the belief that children who are experiencing delays in their development have the same needs as other children, but require
extra assistance and opportunities to develop their abilities.
The goal of the program is for parents to experience increased competence and confidence in raising their child with a disability. It does this by helping parents develop and implement effective, practical management strategies for dealing with a variety of childhood behavioural problems and developmental issues common among children with disabilities. In addition to standard Triple P strategies, some additional procedures are used which have been shown to be effective with children who have a disability.
The program is offered in your home over 10 individually tailored sessions, with a focus on promoting your child’s competencies in social and language skills, emotional skills, independence, and problem solving.
