Pathways ECI play and learn program

ASD specific Specialist services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Play and Learn

For children with characteristics on the Autistic Spectrum.

• Where: Pathways Early Childhood Intervention (Next to the basketball court)
• When: Tuesday mornings (please contact centre for dates and times)

There are two sections to the program.

• Facilitated playgroup for children run by a special educator and occupational therapist.
• Parent education and discussion groups facilitated by a special educator.  Parent participation is required.

The playgroup will have a strong focus on communication, exploration, play and educational activities. It will be conducted in a small group of six to eight children. Children will be introduced to the skill of following simple routines and participating in group times. The parent group discussions will be structured to assist families develop individual strategies. Discussions will be conducted by various Pathways ECI staff depending on the topic for the week. 

The program will require a commitment of at least one term (10 weeks) with an opportunity to extend the program depending on individual needs. There will be a small entry fee of $20.00 at the start of the program. No family will be excluded from the group if they are unable to pay this fee.
