The Hanen Centre is a Canadian charitable organization committed to assisting young children who are experiencing problems with their language development. They have developed a number of courses for parents and teachers that offer practical strategies to enhance children’s communication skills in naturalistic settings.

At Pathways ECI we have a Hanen certified Speech Pathologist who has been qualified to present Hanen workshops. These workshops include the:

• “More Than Words” Hanen Program® for Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is also a valuable course for parents of children who have complex communication needs.
• “It Takes Two To Talk” Hanen Program®. This is for parents of children who may be at risk of language delay.
• “Learning and Loving It” Hanen Program®. A program aimed at teachers and early childhood staff to provide practical strategies that will enhance communication opportunities of children in early childhood settings.

The Hanen philosophy is based upon family centered practice which aims to empower parents to facilitate the development of their child’s communication skills in daily contexts and routines .
