Behaviour Intervention

One to One

Pathways ECI believes that the use of positive behaviour intervention and supports allows us to address behaviours that interfere with learning.

The behaviour intervention program is designed to look at ways and means that a child with limited language capabilities uses problem behaviour to communicate. Our aim is to reduce problem behaviour by providing meaningful alternatives for the child, and creating environments and patterns of support that make the challenging behaviour irrelevant and ineffective.

The goal of the communication-based intervention is to allow a child with a disability to influence others without having to resort to problem behaviour – which is often very effective for getting more social contact from adults.

Our assessments involve working side by side with the family, and across settings, to identify patterns of activities and social situations that give rise to problem behaviour. This collaborative approach ensures consistency of responses, one of the most important elements in our relationship with children.
